Your Debt-To-Income (DTI) ratio is a key element to the mortgage process. The lower the DTI, the better the probability on qualifying for a loan.

The calculation used to find out your DTI is your monthly debt payments divided by your gross monthly income. The next step is to multiply your answer by 100 to get your DTI percentage.
