How do they impact each other?

Typically, lenders consider 780 as the highest tier credit score meaning it will give buyers the lowest possible rate options. The amount you put down could narrow the penalty of having a lower credit score.

Conventional Loan Examples:
20% Down Payment:
780 credit - Rate 7.25%
680 credit - Rate 8.125%

30% Down Payment:
780 credit - Rate: 7.125%
680 credit - Rate: 7.625%

40% Down Payment:
780 credit - Rate: 7.125%
680 credit - Rate: 7.125%

There are also some low down payment options such as FHA where you can put as low as 3.5% and do not have adjusters for interest rates based on credit score.

These rates are estimates and used for example purposes.
