Mortgage rates have climbed sharply in recent weeks, with the Freddie Mac 30-year fixed rate reaching 7.28%, its highest level since November 2023. The 10-year Treasury yield also rose to 5.28% as inflation concerns, elevated energy prices, and uncertainty around Federal Reserve policy continue to impact the markets.

At the same time, September’s employment data showed signs of a weakening labor market, adding another layer of uncertainty to the outlook for rates and the economy.
