Finally—a commonsense conversation about how public-assistance dollars should be used.
Florida has proposed limiting EBT and TANF benefits to essential needs such as groceries, clothing and medicine. The proposal would restrict their use for to***co and va**ng products, intoxicants, video games, entertainment tickets, tattoos, tanning services and other nonessential purchases.
Public assistance should help individuals and families meet genuine needs while working toward greater self-sufficiency. When taxpayer dollars fund that assistance, accountability matters.
This proposal would not reduce the benefits available to eligible families. It would simply establish clearer boundaries around how those funds may be spent.
