What do you think?

Both my kids work two jobs during the school year and summer, but it has been difficult to find employers that are willing to hire and be flexible with restrictions and schedules for:
1. minors
2. students with changing schedules
3. young people without work experience

But it can be done and some managers are willing to give them a chance! Chick-Fil-A, Jeremiah's Italian Ice, Marco's Pizza to name a few.

Are you a successor trustee? There is a lot to consider when the time comes. I am walking through this with someone right now and even in the best of circumstances it's a big job, and if you hit obstacles or family drama small things can balloon.

Having the right experts around you makes all the difference. The financial advisor, the accountant, the attorney provide support, education, and protection. You will need it, so have these conversations with your family now.

I've been getting a wave of questions about "Trump Accounts" lately.

Here's the plain-English breakdown so you don't have to dig for it:

What you need to know:

• Available for children under age 18
• Includes a $1,000 government contribution — but ONLY for kids born between 2025–2028
• Establishment isn't automatic — you have to enroll and confirm eligibility

How it works:

• Structured more like a retirement account than a traditional savings account
• Parent contributions follow different rules than what most people expect
• There are strict limitations on when and how the money can be used and the best practice is to leave the money alone until retirement age (59 1/2 years old)

My take:

• If your child qualifies for the $1,000 — take it. It's free money with decades to grow
• If not, there are other options that can accomplish the same goal, often with more flexibility

Big picture:

• This is a long-term play — money that compounds over time can turn small contributions into something very meaningful
• Rules matter here — don't assume you can access funds whenever you want
• If you need the money for education, this isn't where I would put it

Final thought:

• What's right for your child may not be right for someone else's

IT'S MAY!!

This month marks a meaningful milestone for so many young people and their families—and we're right there celebrating (and reaching for the tissues along with you).

For us, it feels especially unique. Our two kids—who I'm incredibly proud of—are just 15 months apart, which means we've experienced graduation season two years in a row. It's everything you'd expect: exciting, bittersweet, emotional…that mix of deep pride and the heart-squeeze that comes when one chapter closes and another begins.

Now Jason and I find ourselves stepping into a new season as empty nesters. Pickleball has already made the list, but we're definitely open to more ideas. 😊

Come August, they'll both head off to UCF in Orlando, and our home will get a little quieter—leaving behind two very proud (and slightly emotional) parents.
Here's to new beginnings—for all of us. 🎓
