If you deliver anything into Philadelphia, you may be charging the wrong sales tax right now.

Pennsylvania changed local sales tax from origin-based to destination-based sourcing under Act 21 of 2026. It used to follow where the seller was. Now it follows where the product goes.

A Media appliance store delivering to a Philadelphia address collects 8% instead of 6%. A supplier shipping into Allegheny County collects 7%.

Two dates matter. The law is retroactive to January 1, 2026. Enforcement starts October 1.

That leaves nine months of transactions already on the books and about four weeks to decide what to do about them.

Act 21 of 2026 moved PA local sales tax to destination sourcing. Enforcement starts October 1. Here is what changes if you sell into Philadelphia.

Independent does not mean alone. That is the practical value of our membership in DFK International/USA, and it came up repeatedly when Executive Director Will Eckerson visited our Media office earlier this month.

When a client expands into a new state, acquires a business across the country, or has an operation overseas, we are not guessing and we are not handing them off to a firm that does not know them. We pick up the phone and reach a member firm that does the work locally, while the relationship stays here.

Every month we spin the wheel at our staff meeting and one name comes up.

This month it was Kelly Regan from our Tax team, and the prize was better than usual because Partner Hillary Alexander donated her own preseason Philadelphia Eagles tickets to the pot.

Kelly is at tonight's Eagles vs. Bengals game in the Hyundai Club Suite, with a $100 gift card to Stateside Live on top of it.

Not every valuation needs to survive a courtroom.

Sometimes you just need a defensible number so you can make a decision. Whether to sell. How to structure a buy-sell. What a partner's stake is actually worth before the conversation gets hard.

That is what a Calculation of Value is for. The scope and methods are agreed up front, the work is limited to what you actually need, and it comes back faster and at lower cost than a full engagement.

The tradeoff is real: a calculation produces a calculated value, not an opinion of value. It is not built to withstand challenge from the IRS or opposing counsel.

Our July Monthly Mission recipient was the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association in Newtown Square.

If you have not been, the memorial's nine granite columns cover every American war from 1812 forward, written in the words of the people who were there. The walkway pavers carry the names of local veterans.

July was the country's 250th birthday and our firm spent the month celebrating it, so the choice was easy. Our team raised $1,260, and on Wednesday four members of the Association's leadership came to our Media office to accept it:
- Joseph Daly, President, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Police Chief, Springfield Township
- Ralph Galati, Vice President, U.S. Air Force veteran
- Bernie Sweeney, Treasurer, U.S. Navy Reserves veteran
- Cliff Bayuk, Program Manager, U.S. Coast Guard veteran

Thanks also to Nicole de Botton Robinson of National Realty Corporation, who has helped drive this memorial forward since day one.
