There are a lot of changes happening this year during with Medicare. Please watch for your notices that should be coming out now. If you have a prescription drug plan or Medicare Advantage the time to make changes will be Oct 15th thru Dec 7th. If you have a Medicare Supplement the time to change that is your birthday month. My schedule is already filling up for October....

As the Annual Enrollment Period approaches understand there are a lot of good Local Insurance Brokers out there to work with. Don't call these toll free numbers on TV. You will never be able to call this person again. which means you will have no personal agent to look after you when laws change that could effect you. They aren't even supposed to be calling you without your permission per Medicare rules. Support your local brokers. I have been doing this for 7 years and am part of your local community.

Many people are confused as to when you can change insurance when on Medicare. The AEP (10/15-12/7) is the normal to change part D prescription plans and PPO & HMO plans. If you get assistance (LIS) you can change once a quarter. If you have a Medigap Supplement (F, G,N,etc) you change any time but require to be medically underwritten. In California and Oregon they have the "birthday rule" where +/- 30 days of your birthday you can change regardless of you health issues. This is very important if you have a F policy, which is getting very pricey. Changing to a G policy can save you hundreds a year net.
