The 60/40 portfolio used to be the gold standard. Simple. Balanced. Reliable.

But lately? It’s been getting a lot more scrutiny.

Markets have changed. Interest rates have shifted. And many investors are starting to wonder if the old “set it and forget it” approach still holds up—or if it’s time for something more flexible.

The real question isn’t whether 60/40 is “dead.”
It’s whether your strategy actually reflects your life right now.

Because your investments shouldn’t just follow a formula. They should support:
✔️ Your timeline
✔️ Your income needs
✔️ Your tolerance for uncertainty
✔️ Your bigger picture goals

A portfolio that worked 10 years ago might not be the right fit today.

We're digging into why the 60/40 portfolio has worked for so long - and if it's the right answer for you. (Hint: maybe not!)

If you’ve been meaning to “get more organized” financially…this is your sign.

This piece from Kiplinger breaks it down into simple but powerful moves and none of them are complicated. Just often ignored.

Things like:

✅️ Getting your documents in one place
✅️Actually knowing what you have (and where it is)
✅️Making sure your insurance and investments still match your life

Not flashy. But incredibly effective.

Don't let the day-to-day get in the way of your long-term financial planning. Here's how to get organized — including a reminder to dream big as you think about your future.

A lot of people think trusts are only for the ultra-wealthy.

They’re not.

At its core, a trust is just a legal way to control how your assets are managed and distributed - on your terms, not the court’s.

And in real life, that can mean:

✔ Avoiding a long, public probate process
✔ Making things simpler for your family during an already hard time
✔ Protecting assets and creating clear instructions for how they’re used
✔ Planning for situations like incapacity—not just death

Estate planning isn’t really about documents. It’s about reducing stress, protecting relationships, and making sure what you’ve built actually does what you intended.

The beginning of the year has a way of nudging us into organization mode. Closets get cleaned out, files get sorted, and that stack of “important documents” finally gets some attention. For many people, this is also when we start...

The is one of those life transitions no one fully prepares you for.

One day, your schedule revolves around everyone else. The next…it doesn’t.

And while there’s freedom in that, there’s also a question that starts to show up:

Now what?

This isn’t just about having more time. It’s about redefining your role, your priorities, and what you want your life to look like going forward.

It’s also a moment to step back financially to rethink how you’re spending, saving, and planning for what’s next.

If you’re in the middle of the empty nest transition, you’re not behind; you’re at a turning point.

And with a little clarity, it can be a really powerful one.

A lot of women spend years making sure everyone else is protected.

But when it comes to , many haven’t fully protected themselves yet.

Women often face unique financial realities: longer life expectancy, caregiving responsibilities, blended families, and the possibility of managing finances alone later in life.

That’s why estate planning isn’t just about paperwork. It’s about maintaining control, protecting your wishes, and creating clarity for the people you love.

The good news? You do not need to have everything figured out to start the conversation.

Estate planning for women goes beyond documents—covering longevity, caregiving, inheritance, and family dynamics to protect your future and relationships.

If your financial life feels a little scattered, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re just doing it alone.

Clarity isn’t about knowing everything. It’s about having a system that connects it all.

Let’s simplify it → https://www.newbeginningswealth.com/get-financial-clarity

Longevity planning isn’t just about making your money last; it’s about making sure you stay in control of your life.

For many women, that means thinking beyond investments and asking bigger questions:

➡️ Who can step in if I need help someday?
➡️ How do I protect my independence as life changes?
➡️ Am I planning for a longer life… or just hoping things work out?

The truth is, independence doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built through thoughtful decisions - financial, legal, and personal - long before you actually need them.

This is one of those topics that’s easy to put off…until it isn’t.

You’re not burned out. You’re just done with what no longer fits.

This piece from Ramona Magazine really nails something a lot of women in their 40s and 50s are feeling right now: it’s not about chasing more—it’s about finding meaning.

And that doesn’t always mean blowing up your career.

Sometimes it’s smaller shifts. Sometimes it’s paying attention to what energizes you. Sometimes it’s finally asking, “What actually matters to me now?”

Worth the read if you’ve been feeling “something’s off” at work!

Most business owners think they’ll “figure it out” when they’re ready to sell.

That’s usually when they realize they’re already behind.

This piece breaks down something a lot of owners miss: selling a business isn’t an event - it’s a strategy you build years in advance.

Things that actually impact your outcome:

✔ Whether the business runs without you
✔ How clean and buyer-friendly your financials are
✔ If your revenue is predictable (recurring > one-off)
✔ Whether you even know what your business is worth today

The difference between a great exit and a frustrating one often comes down to preparation—not timing.

Selling a business isn’t something you do overnight. It requires planning, strategy, and the right partners. Here's what you need to know now to sell your business later.

There’s a growing trend of people swapping doomscrolling for something a little more analog—think needlepoint, watercolor, puzzles, even handwritten letters. And honestly? It’s kind of refreshing.

Searches for “analog hobbies” are up over 160% recently, as more people look for ways to slow down, unplug, and actually enjoy their free time again.

It’s less about being “productive” and more about doing something that:
✔️ Gives your brain a break
✔️ Feels creative (without pressure)
✔️ Doesn’t involve a screen

And yes… apparently our grandmothers were onto something.

If you’ve been feeling a little burned out or overstimulated, this might be your sign to try something different.

What would you pick: watercolor, puzzles, or something else?

Tired of scrolling? Paint, bake and sew with these expert-loved analog activities.
