It seems like only yesterday when I made a life-changing career move to mortgage banking. Now, for over 15 years, I have had the privilege of assisting more than 2500 clients obtain financing for what is likely the largest transaction of their lives, a home purchase or refinance. Whether first-time buyers, those purchasing a dream vacation home or an investment property, I am
committed to providing a smooth process and loan program that best meets the borrowers’ financial goals. My husband and I placed our roots and raised our three children in Montgomery County, Maryland. While they were growing up, I was determined to be as present as possible in their lives, at their schools, and in the community. Towards that end, I took the entrepreneurial route and involved myself in customer-centric businesses that allowed me the flexibility to create my own hours and work from home. That was the best of both worlds until my children were grown, at which time I decided to expand my career to mortgage banking. Why mortgage banking? Many things attracted me to the mortgage industry and my decision to become a loan officer. Above all, I enjoy working with people directly; listening to their scenarios, understanding and analyzing their needs and wishes, and helping them to achieve their personal milestones. The timing was perfect. It was 2002, and the industry was booming! Rates were at historic lows and clients were abundant. It seemed that my best personal and professional attributes combined would make for an exceptional mortgage banker. Ironically, I stumbled upon an anonymous quote that inspired me to make the career change. “Where your greatest good and the world’s greatest need intersect, that is your vocation.” It was meant to be. Why ‘Laurie the Lender’? During the mortgage boom, throughout the bust, and to the resurgence of the lending industry, I have stayed true to my passion, my skills, and my mission. I pride myself on industry knowledge, competency, responsiveness, integrity, tenacity, and acute attention to detail treating each loan as if it is the only one I have. My authentic approach and superior service in helping people achieve their goal of home financing has earned me recognition as ‘Laurie the Lender’.
