Trying this again since my last post gave me so much trouble! But since it’s my birthday, it feels like a great time to recap my year 37 misogi…@29029
✨Hardest thing I have ever done.
I knew it would be hard, but dang. Saturday morning I was nauseous, had a horrible headache and genuinely wasn’t sure I could do it. I’m so grateful for Lisa Buoy and Doug who got me through the tears and doubt. And my kids were rockstars. Leni sent me so many voice notes and texts telling me I could do it. I love those kids so much.
✨Never underestimate the power of not taking yourself too seriously.
During my last marathon I started using aid stations as “twerk breaks,” so naturally I decided to twerk at every aid station of 29029. Over 45 twerk breaks in 36 hours. 😂 It gave me something ridiculous to look forward to every 30–45 minutes and made every new height a mini celebration. I also developed a reputation as “the girl who twerks,” and I REALLY wanted to twerk at that finish line. Maybe all the collective thoughts and vibes being sent up for the girl who twerks helped!
✨Just try.
Colleen Rue told us, “Just try.” Trying is scary, but I’ve learned not trying is just as hard.
When I wanted to quit after 3.5 hours of sleep, Lisa told me not to focus on the finish. Just this lap. Right now. And even if I hadn’t finished—and it would have been heartbreaking—I had so much damn fun. I danced. I laughed. I cried. I ate. Can you ever really fail when you’re having fun? I don’t think so.
✨Everyone’s mountain sucks at different times.
We will inevitably bump someone’s rough edges along the way. I accidentally hurt someone’s feelings on lap 7. I apologized, he forgave me, but I kept beating myself up.Doug caught me at the top after I cried the last 1/3 mile and cried with me. Lisa caught me at the bottom and told me not to let it stop my climb. So I forgave myself and kept climbing.

Thank you to everyone who followed along, encouraged me, volunteered and believed a bunch of strangers could climb a mountain 15 times.
And thank you God for this healthy body.
Year 37 was a hell of a year.
Now who wants to join my 29029 twerk crew next year? 😂
