While you’re loading bags into the car, take a few minutes to check the tire pressure and clear the windshield. Bring water and a phone charger, and make sure your roadside numbers are somewhere you can find them.

Then it’s time for the fun part: picking the first stop. Are you headed somewhere this weekend, or enjoying a drive with no destination in mind?
