🔥 October is Fire Prevention Safety Month! 🔥

At Mayville Tremaine, we care about your safety and want to ensure that your home remains a safe haven. Fires can be devastating, but many are preventable with the right precautions. Here are some best practices and important things to consider for fire prevention:

1️⃣ Install Smoke Alarms: Make sure you have working smoke alarms on every level of your home and inside each bedroom. Test them monthly and change the batteries at least once a year.

2️⃣ Create an Escape Plan: Develop a fire escape plan for your family. Make sure everyone knows the escape routes and where to meet outside.

3️⃣ Fire Extinguishers: Keep fire extinguishers in your kitchen and other high-risk areas. Learn how to use them and ensure they are in good working condition.

4️⃣ Electrical Safety: Avoid overloading electrical outlets, and replace frayed cords or damaged appliances. Unplug devices when not in use.

5️⃣ Safe Cooking Practices: Stay in the kitchen while cooking and keep flammable items away from the stovetop. Never leave the kitchen unattended when cooking.

6️⃣ Proper Heating: If you use space heaters, keep them at least three feet away from flammable materials. Ensure your furnace and chimney are inspected and cleaned regularly.
