Why Life and Cancer Insurance?

That’s an old picture, huh? It was taken some time in the 50’s. See the gal on your left? That’s my Mom. Veronica, better know and beloved as Ronnie. She was the youngest of four daughters and a little brother came along to make five siblings. Born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Some time in the late 40’s she married an Air Force vet and they had two boys and a delightful daughter. After years of drama, they divorced and my Mom was a single Mother of three. She faced untold difficulties and challenges but worked really hard to provide for us. Sometimes, two and three jobs. To get to her primary job, she’s walk to the bus stop and took two buses in the morning and two buses in the evening to return home. If you know anything about Minnesota winters, well, it was difficult. She was an amazing, diligent, and devoted Mom.

In the late 1960’s she was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. She fought as hard and she fought as long as she could. She really did. She passed in May of 1971. Losing her was devastating. I was 16, my sister 11, and we were truly on our own. Our older brother tried to help, but his situation was pretty sketchy. There was no Life Insurance. There was no Cancer Insurance. To this day, I don’t know who paid for her funeral, but I recall it was a very economical undertaking.

As you can imagine, we encountered severe and difficult circumstances with painful consequences that in some ways, last to this day. But let me end this story here...Because I really want you to understand why I believe protecting yourself and your family is so very important. It’s personal.
