SeaComm is being recognized as one of America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions by Newsweek and Plant-A Insights Group, who identify companies that are committed to powering local economies by supporting small businesses, financing community projects, and providing reliable access to everyday financial services.

“We are extremely proud to have been selected for Newsweek's 2026 Best 500 Credit Unions list across the US,” said SeaComm President and Chief Executive Officer Scott A. Wilson. “We know we do a great job for our members based upon our own benchmarks; however, it is always great to be recognized by an outside organization that independently rates financial institutions against others. Newsweek is a respected publication, and having our name affiliated with that brand makes it even more meaningful.”

America’s Best Regional Banks and Credit Unions ranking is based on a comprehensive research study that incorporates in-depth desk research, a large-scale nationwide survey, and millions of online reviews to identify the 500 best regional banks and 500 best credit unions in the country. More than 8,800 banks and credit unions were considered in an initial review that measured them across key financial benchmarks that include profitability, Texas ratio, and net loans and leases.

“More than financial service providers, credit unions are community partners, showing up in neighborhoods, participating in local initiatives and helping strengthen the connections that bind their members together,” said Newsweek Editor-in-Chief Jennifer Cunningham. “We hope this list helps you find the most trusted financial institutions in your area – whether you’re planning your next business venture or taking your next step towards financial security.”

We joined more than 6,000 Credit Union leaders in Washington, DC this week for America’s Credit Unions Governmental Affairs Conference. This effort ensures issues key in our industry are kept in focus by Congress. Today we were at the Capitol meeting with our Vermont representatives about issues that are important to credit unions. We have been informed that our last remaining Charter member Earl Jackson passed away. We last visited with Earl this past November, when he asked if he could tour the headquarters and meet everyone. A visit he thoroughly enjoyed. When I visited with his three daughters yesterday, they all said how proud Dad was of what SeaComm has become since those early days. He was a good friend to SeaComm and will be dearly missed. We extend our deepest sympathy to Earl’s family. May the peace of the Lord be with him! SeaComm

SeaComm’s Marketing and Communications Department was recently honored with a gold award from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions (MAC) for their biannual newsletter, “The Advisor,” which is mailed to the credit union’s 56,000+ members twice a year. SeaComm’s submission was among 458 entries from nearly 100 credit unions across the country and took first place in its category.

One of the traditions I find most enjoyable every 24th of December is the reciting of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by poet Clement C. Moore. The title of the poem is A Visit from St. Nicholas. A beautiful copy of this book is in my personal library and is excitedly looked forward to each year, once by my children, and now grandchildren.

This time of year, it affords an opportunity to count our blessings, while at the same time giving to those in need. At SeaComm we take this opportunity to remember those who are less fortunate by ringing the bell for the Salvation Army, packing baskets for a number of Christmas programs through our employee “Do Some Good” program or the purchasing of $5,000 worth of toys as part of our employee Christmas toy drive. We have continued to ensure that the food pantries, hospitals and other charitable organizations have received the benefit of SeaComm’s mission of “People Helping People” and have given more than $350,000 in community sponsorships and support during the year.

So as we ready for this most wonderful time of year, we at SeaComm can feel good knowing that we have made a difference in the lives of our members and the communities in which we do business.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Management and Staff, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a New Year full of joy, hope and peace.

Scott A. Wilson

SeaComm’s management team took time to support the good works of the Salvation Army by ringing the bell to assist them in raising needed funds during the Christmas season. I took my turn today. A great cause for sure! SeaComm
