Here is your first Insurance Tip of 2026!!!

I get a lot of people who come to me for a quote, and find out they have a driver on their insurance policy; yet the driver has their own car insurance also.

The standard answer when I ask why? Well bc they drive one of our cars sometimes.

The big problem with this is…adding a driver to your policy affects the rates of all vehicles, not just the one the may drive.

The other? If someone has their own insurance, they can drive your car with your permission, however if they were to wreck, the claim would be filed by you, since you own the car.

My most recent client didn’t realize her 24 year old didn’t need to be on her policy, he has his own insurance. Bc of his driving record and being on her policy it was costing her thousands more a year, once I explained and we removed him? It saved her over $2000!!
