As fraud attempts continue to increase nationwide, NICCU has added an extra layer of protection for outgoing transfers to accounts outside the credit union.

Members can still make external transfers — we simply ask that you contact us first so we can verify it's really you before enabling the feature and money leaves your account. This quick step helps protect you from scammers who may gain access through phishing emails, fake websites, or fraudulent text messages.

The good news? Your accounts remain secure. The best defense is staying alert:

✅ Never share verification codes with anyone!
✅ Be cautious of unexpected texts, emails, or phone calls asking for account information.
✅ If you get a text about a security code that you did not initiate, contact NICCU immediately.
✅ Contact NICCU directly if something doesn't seem right

If you need to transfer funds to an account outside NICCU, just give us a call and we'll be happy to help.

Congratulations to Hannah Garza, a member of North Iowa Community Credit Union and a homeschooled graduating senior, Mason City, IA, for being awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Warren A Morrow Scholarship. The Iowa Credit Union Foundation has awarded $48,000 in scholarships to 25 Iowa credit union members.

"The scholarship honors Warren A. Morrow, who devoted his life and career to serving underserved communities and uplifting the Hispanic population. Students can use the scholarships toward accredited graduate, four-year, two-year, trade or vocational programs."

A big congratulations to Sharon Somers on receiving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award from Lions Clubs International! She is a long-time member and currently serving as the President of the Mason City Lions Club.

This award is one of the highest honors in Lions and recognizes dedication to serving others and making a difference in the community. Anyone who knows Sharon knows how much she cares about helping others and giving back wherever she can. She has especially been passionate about the eyeglass project and helping provide better vision and resources to those in need.

We’re lucky to have people like Sharon in our community. Congratulations on this very well-deserved honor!

Celebrating 70 years of serving members at the North Iowa band festival parade this Saturday at 10 AM. Their theme is band‘s birthdays and brass which fits perfectly with us celebrating our 70th birthday at North Iowa Community Credit Union!

NICCU will be closed on Saturday to allow staff to participate.
