❗ Enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Large hail, damaging wind gusts and fast-developing tornadoes are possible. I could get lost in the weeds addressing what ingredients will be in place, or what limiting factors may result in weaker thunderstorms. Instead, I'll urge you to have multiple ways to receive warning information, specifically ones that will wake you up, such as a NOAA Weather Radio, KMBC app (keep your phone ringer ON!) and Wireless Emergency Alerts on compatible devices. So much for the spring temps we've had these last two days.

A winter storm is forecast to impact the area from late Wednesday evening/overnight through the day Thursday. Be aware that rain will transition to a wintry mix of freezing rain and sleet and eventually snow, from northwest to southeast, and regardless of snow amounts, travel Thursday will be treacherous. Winds will also be strong and gusty through this storm with potential for 25 mph sustained winds gusting to 40 mph during, reducing visibility and leading to blowing and drifting of snow.

With Christmas only 36 hours away, here is your official White Christmas forecast! 🎄☃️🤔🌴🌞

10/13/2021

We've got several chances for strong storms this evening and overnight into tomorrow morning. The first two rounds will be scattered in nature (not everyone will see storms) with gusty winds, small hail, and pockets of heavy rain possible. This will all precede the main line of storms expected to move through the area from west to east Wednesday morning. That round will bring more widespread rainfall and have the best potential for strong winds.
