Super Bowl Monday! Event v. Process

I'm always amazed at how much activity revolves around the Super Bowl each year. No matter which teams make it to this esteemed event, it seems so many Americans are interested in the result. So many fans and casual football viewers like myself judge the outcome of one event as our standard of success for teams. The Kansas Chiefs lost the Super Bowl last night - do we only notice the loss? The Eagles won the Super Bowl last night - what can we learn from their win?

I think the same lesson can be learned from each result - The Process > The Event.

The Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has nearly been fired or "on the chopping block" for each of the past 4 years for his inability to win a Super Bowl. After all, Philly fans can be rough. But behind the scenes and the noise, the Eagles were quietly building something great. They continued to invest in their defense and they provided their quarterback with the necessary tools to succeed (Saquon Barkley). It all came together this season, and especially on Super Bowl Sunday.

Then we have the Chiefs - wow. Three straight Super Bowl appearances?! That's incredible. They have a core group of players that know EXACTLY what it takes during the season to get to the BIG game. Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have instilled a culture of "doing consistently what others do occasionally" and it shows up every season.

Don't fall into the trap of seeing the results of an EVENT, without understanding the importance of a PROCESS! An event can cause or spur change in your life, business, marriage, or passion, but a PROCESS helps create a lasting impact and the right development to get you to YOUR Super Bowl.
