TWIN GABLES GOES FROM ROCK & ROLL TO ROCK & RUMBLE
By Herb Welch, Editor
The Warren County REPORTER
Cori’s Twin Gables in Marthasville has long been known for three things: some of the best food around, the coldest beer, and the best weekly entertainment south of the hill.
Usually that entertainment involves rock and roll, country music, and somebody yelling Free Bird after consuming enough Busch Light to believe they’re part of the band.
But on Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m., there won’t be a guitar or fiddle headlining the evening.
Instead, Cori’s is bringing professional wrestling to Marthasville.
And not just any professional wrestling.
EXTREME DWARFANATORS WRESTLING.
The traveling promotion bills itself as the “Baddest Lil’ Show” and is bringing its Fight for Pride show to Twin Gables for one night only.
That’s right.
Spandex.
Face masks.
Turnbuckles.
Flying elbows.
Body slams.
All packed into Twin Gables, where there’s already barely enough room to carry a basket of wings through the crowd on a Saturday night.
Word of the event has apparently inspired two local amateur hopefuls.
Henry Engemann and Justin Heggemann have reportedly secured spandex wrestling tights and face masks and are now training in hopes they’ll be tagged into the action.
Neither man has any documented professional wrestling experience.
This has not discouraged them.
Sources say their training program currently consists of drinking beer, watching old wrestling videos and practicing dramatic entrances through the garage door.
Henry has reportedly selected the wrestling name “The Marthasville Mauler.”
Justin hasn’t settled on a name yet, although “The Heggemaniac” is gaining support.
Both men insist they’re ready.
Whether the Dwarfanators are ready for them remains another question entirely.
Tickets are already on sale through Dwarfanators.com, and the promotional flyer promises the “Baddest Lil’ Show” fighting for one night only.
So mark your calendar:
Wednesday, August 26 — 7:00 p.m.
Cori’s Twin Gables — Marthasville, Missouri.
Come hungry.
Come thirsty.
And if Henry and Justin actually climb into the ring, somebody please bring a first-aid kit.
LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE, MARTHASVILLE.
