Taxes: As of 2026, 4-H members will receive a 1099-MISC packet if the sale is over $2,000. This does not mean you have to pay in tax automatically. The IRS only taxes net profit, not the total gross payout check. The vast majority of 4-H projects result in zero tax liability once animal purchases, feed, and other show expenses are deducted.

Watching Northwestern Mutual’s Annual Meeting virtually, because there’s way too many people in Milwaukee right now for a small town girl! 😉
