For 25 plus year I have been in the insurance and financial business and loved everyday of it. I worked so hard for each and every client even when they didn’t even know. I have never been the flashy guy but I always listened to what the client wanted and needed. So when, in the last couple months I have had several clients tell me, they would have been lost without me, it fills my heart. Not because of the words they said to me but because of the peace I put in their hearts.

These facts are pretty incredible to consider and something I absolutely see in my wealth management practice.

80% of women will experience widowhood
The average age is 57 years old
A widow lives approximately 20 years as a widow
80% of widows who are now living at the government poverty level were NOT in poverty before their husband died.

These are staggering statistics. Having a plan for the future is pretty imperative, I'd say! Life insurance and guaranteed income streams are two of them.

a. General financial risks that people face:

i. Longevity risk: Risk “multiplier” in that it increases odds of other risks. Usually used to refer to the risk of outliving retirement assets

ii. Mortality Risk: Risk that one or both spouses will die prematurely or significantly earlier than anticipated.

iii. Health/Disability Risk: Risk that a health event or accident will impair either income earning ability or be a tremendous cost burden (or both).

iv. Inflation Risk: Risk of loss of purchasing power in future years, especially a concern for people living on a fixed income.

v. Market or Sequence of Return Risk: Risk of underperformance or bad timing in relation to investments which could require client to lower their standard of living or risk running out of money.
