Crasher Spotlight 8 of 8: Meet Mackenzie!

Mackenzie has worked for U.P. State Credit Union for 6 years. She is the head of the card department and works with their Credit and Debit Card team. Mackenzie love to help her members with problem solving and how to prevent fraud from happening on their account. In her free time, you can find her in the gym coaching JV Volleyball. Mackenzie love to work with her community by volunteering at school event, HOME of Mackinac county (as the bartender), and whatever else comes her way. Mackenzie loves to spend her time with her family traveling all over the world, because she believes family always comes first. Her hobbies are crocheting and making sour bread from scratch (you can call her Jane Dough). If you see Mackenzie feel free to stop and say hi, she loves meeting new people.

Crasher Spotlight 7 of 8: Meet Alexandria!

Allie is a Loan Officer at TruNorth Federal Credit Union's new Marquette branch, offering consumer and home equity loans. Allie has worked her way up at TruNorth, having served in many positions over her almost 4 years with the credit union. Her main passion is helping people rebuild from difficult situations and educating her members on how they can build credit. In her spare time, she enjoys the occasional retail therapy, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.

Crasher Spotlight 6 of 8: Meet Kevin!

Kevin has been the Marketing and Community Engagement Coordinator at TruNorth Federal Credit Union for about a year. He recently graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. Kevin enjoys getting involved with the public and engaging with members in unique settings to help TruNorth continue to positively impact the communities we serve. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys Skiing and Mountain biking. Kevin also spends a lot of time in his garage working on cars and motorcycles.

Crasher Spotlight 5 of 8: Meet Katelyn!

Katelyn has been at the Soo Co-op Credit Union for a little over 12 years. She started as a teller in 2012, took the role of working in collections and now is a Lending officer/Financial Counselor. Katelyn helps members with everyday finances and consumer lending. She has passion for helping members through good and bad financial situations and helping them accomplish their goals. It’s truly rewarding.

Katelyn married her high school sweetheart of 21 years. They have three beautiful children, who keep her very busy with their sporting events. In her free time, she likes playing/coaching volleyball, walking the dogs, beach days and boating with her friends and family.

Katelyn is excited to be a 2025 crasher!

Crasher Spotlight 4 of 8: Meet Eliot!

Eliot is an energetic and outgoing young professional with a deep passion for serving Credit Union members and making a positive impact in his community. He is currently a Relationship Banker at Embers Credit Union. Since moving to Marquette in 2023, he has embraced his new home by actively participating in a wide range of local events, activities, and organizations.

A lover of the outdoors, Eliot spends his Spring, Summer, and Fall mountain biking, camping, and hiking, taking full advantage of Marquette’s natural beauty. He also brings his enthusiasm and talents to the arts as a baritone with the Marquette Choral Society, where he not only sings but also serves as a board member.

This is Olivia Acord (Liv for short) she works for Integra First Federal Credit Union in the Stephenson branch. She is energetic and outgoing; she enjoys being around her family and friends. Also enjoys hiking, fishing, and doing arts and crafts.

Crasher Spotlight 2 of 8: Meet Jennifer!

Jennifer Retchko is a single mom of one amazing 9-year-old girl and a whole hoard of cats! While she resides in Ishpeming, she considers Negaunee her home base as her daughter attends school there and she works full-time at the Embers Credit Union Negaunee Branch. She spends a majority of her time adventuring with her daughter, in particular hiking around the UP! Fall hiking in the Upper Peninsula is absolutely unmatched! Living in the Marquette area, Jennifer takes advantage of the theater and live music scene, hitting as many shows as she can! Not to mention trying to get to as many local events as possible! When she’s not out and about, Jen can be found binging her favorite shows or reading far later into the night than she should be! She’s also a big fan of creating fun challenges and group activities for her co-workers such as March is Reading Month and Move in May! She also
loves to volunteer in her community; one of the many reasons why she loves working for Embers!

Crasher Spotlight 1 of 8: Meet Shelbie!

Shelbie Lynn Soderman, a 22-year-old hunting and dirt bike riding enthusiast. She was born and raised in Gladstone, Michigan and was one of eleven in her graduating class at Mid Peninsula High School. If you’re ever looking for Shelbie, you can find her enjoying the great outdoors, hanging out with her younger brother, Jack, or assisting members at work. She has always known she wanted to make a career out of helping others which has led Shelbie to where she is today. Shelbie has been in banking for the last four years and has just celebrated her one-year anniversary with Peninsula Federal Credit Union as a Member Experience Representative. She is always putting the members first and is eager to grow her career in the financial institution world with PFCU.

In 2024, U.P. Credit Unions collectively hosted 23 Financial Reality Fairs that impacted 3082 students! We had a total of 12 different credit unions that helped to make this a success for schools and credit unions U.P. wide! 💲

Our Upper Peninsula FUELmi members had a great Q3 meeting last week! They learned about Critical Leadership Thinking, made tie blankets for local animal shelters, and enjoyed a networking session after. 🧠🐾🍻
