Your primary beneficiary might pass away first. Without a backup, your assets could end up in probate. Always name a contingent beneficiary to make sure your money goes where you want it to.

“I’m good, I don’t need to name a beneficiary.”

But naming one doesn’t give them access to your account, your balance, or your money while you’re living. It simply tells the bank who you want your funds to go to after you’re gone.

Without one, those funds may have to go through your estate and potentially probate before reaching your loved ones. A simple designation now can make things a whole lot easier later.

If you've followed along with us for a while, you know Trey McKinney is family around here.

We've watched this kid grow up, we've been proud to sponsor him throughout his career, and we even got to sit down with him on the podcast last year. So this one hits a little different for us.

Right now Trey is fishing the biggest tournament of the season on the St. Lawrence River, and the Bassmaster Angler of the Year title is on the line. That's one of the top honors in the sport and it goes to the most consistent angler all season long. After two strong runner-up seasons, he's out front today with a 10-point lead and the title well within reach this weekend..

Did you read along with us this month? Here are our thoughts on Number Go Up by Zeke Faux, our latest MyFSB Book Club pick.

First thing to know: this isn't a how-to guide for crypto. It's a story. Faux takes you along as he digs into the whole strange world, and it reads more like following a reporter down a rabbit hole than sitting through a lecture.
