As Independence Day approaches, the Marina Police Department would like to wish everyone a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Please remember that only Safe and Sane fireworks approved by the California State Fire Marshal are legal for use. The possession, sale, transportation, or use of illegal fireworks is prohibited and can result in significant penalties.

Residents should be aware that allowing illegal fireworks to be used on your property may also result in enforcement action, regardless of who ignited them.

Violations may result in:
• Fines exceeding $1,000
• Seizure of illegal fireworks
• Criminal charges, including felony charges, depending on the circumstances

To help keep our community safe, the Marina Police Department will have additional officers on duty throughout the holiday period actively enforcing fireworks laws and responding to complaints involving illegal fireworks.

Illegal fireworks pose a serious risk of injury, fire, and property damage. We encourage everyone to celebrate responsibly and help protect our neighborhoods by reporting illegal fireworks activity.

We would like to remind the community of some of our regulations related to our city parks. All of our city parks all close one hour after sunset each day. Please keep pets on a leash and only cats and dogs are allowed in parks. No alcoholic beverages are allowed in the parks. If you wish to have a group activity with more than 6 persons in a city park, please contact the Marina Recreation and Cultural Services Department at (831) 884-1253 to inquire about a use permit. Thank you!
