The start of a new month is a lot like moving, packing up the old, making room for the new, and giving yourself permission to start fresh. 📦✨
Tomorrow starts a brand-new month, and as we step into September, it feels especially fitting as Amy prepares for a big new chapter of her own, a move in Florida! 🌴
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing different moments from her moving journey, because while moving can be exciting, it can also feel overwhelming. If a move is on your horizon, here are a few things we recommend doing BEFORE moving day:
📦 Pack with your future self in mind. Label boxes by room AND what’s inside. You’ll thank yourself when you’re looking for the coffee maker and don’t have to open 12 boxes.
🧹 Don’t move things you don’t love. Decluttering before you pack means less to move, less to unpack, and a much easier fresh start.
📝 Make a “first night” box. Think toiletries, pajamas, chargers, toilet paper, medications, basic kitchen essentials, paper towels, and anything else you’ll want before you’re ready to unpack.
📋 Keep important documents separate. Closing paperwork, IDs, insurance information, moving documents, and other important items should stay somewhere easy to access, not buried in a moving truck.
🔑 Handle the little things early. Set up utilities, change your address, transfer prescriptions, schedule internet installation, and make those appointments before moving day sneaks up on you.
🏡 Get to know your new area before you arrive. Find your go-to grocery store, coffee shop, pharmacy, restaurants, and everyday essentials. Those little things can make an unfamiliar place start feeling like home.
🤎 And give yourself some grace. A new home doesn’t feel like home overnight. Let yourself enjoy the process, the messy middle, and everything that comes with starting a new chapter.
A move may feel like a lot of change at once, but sometimes change is exactly what creates the space for something new.
Here’s to fresh starts, new places, and whatever September has in store. ✨
Have a great week!
