🌬️ Wind Storms & Fallen Trees – WHO'S RESPONSIBLE? 🌳

With the recent wind storms, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about what happens if your tree falls onto your neighbor’s property. It’s a common misconception that you are automatically responsible—but that’s not usually the case.

👉 Here’s how it typically works:

If a healthy tree falls due to wind, storms, or other natural causes, it’s considered a natural occurrence.
That means:

Your neighbor’s insurance would typically cover damage to their property (yard, fence, car, or home)

Your insurance would cover damage to your property

🚫 When would you be responsible?
Only if negligence is involved—like if the tree was clearly dead, diseased, or at risk and wasn’t addressed.

💡 What should you do?

Regularly inspect trees on your property

Remove dead or hazardous trees

Document maintenance if you’re unsure

Storms are unpredictable—but understanding your coverage doesn’t have to be!
