I serve by taking the time to truly understand each family's goals, challenges and calling

, so I can offer clear guidance rooted in scripture and sound financial principles. About Me:

I grew up in Franklin Springs, Georgia, a small town most have never heard of but that I love deeply. I attended the wonderful Emmanuel University, where I met my lovely wife, Hannah. We’re raising our sons, Luke and Shepherd, who are the joys of our lives. We are highly active in our local Church and serve in many capacities. When not in the office, I'm most likely enjoying time with my family at home, enjoying a meal with friends, or embarking on an occasional trip to trout stream with my fly rod. If this resonates with you, let’s schedule a conversation to explore how we can partner together in your stewardship journey. Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Center for Financial Planning, Inc. owns and licenses the certification marks CFP®, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®, and CFP® (with plaque design) in the United States to Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., which authorizes individuals who successfully complete the organization’s initial and ongoing certification requirements to use the certification marks.

One of my favorite figures from the Bible is one that is often overlooked, if known about at all.

Towards the end of Exodus when God commands Moses to construct the Tabernacle, we read about a man named Bezalel and it says this:

Ex. 35:31: "The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts.

Did you catch that? A master craftsmen being filled with the Spirit of God (not to mention this is the first time we see this phrase used in Scripture).

Bezalel was called by God and endowed with great skills to build a magnificent Dwelling Place for Him to be able to be among His people. What an honor.

I'm encouraged by Bezalel's story because among many other things we can draw from it, it shows that being used by God and filled with His Spirit is not reserved only for those in traditional pastoral ministry, (though that is extremely important), but can appear in the lives of:

Builders.
Innovators.
Designers.
Craftsmen.
Entrepreneurs.
Investors.
Financial Advisors.
Business leaders.
Artists.
Etc.

We're seeing a revival in the marketplace happening as we speak, as those with all manner of skills and gifts are devoting their lives and talents back to God for use to advance His Kingdom in ways many won't expect.

I encourage you all to read more of Bezalel's story and be inspired to bring your talents, gifts and passions to God as an act of worship and watch what He does with them.

God bless and Happy Tuesday!

"Tell me what you think about money, and I will tell you what you think about God, for these two are closely related. A man’s heart is closer to his wallet than anything else." - Billy Graham

To paraphrase, the way to a man's heart is through his.......wallet?

Whether it's how we save, how we invest, how we spend, or how we give, how we handle money is a testimony to who (or what) reigns supreme over our lives.

The call to stewarding God's money, God's way is not prohibitive to the "good life" as the world around us would define it as.

What those folks don't realize (until they do) is that a life committed to being a faithful steward of God's financial resources dramatically redefines what the "good life" is.

How do we know? From Jesus himself:

“The Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure that a man discovered hidden in a field. In his excitement, he hid it again and sold everything he owned to get enough money to buy the field. Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls. When he discovered a pearl of great value, he sold everything he owned and bought it!"- Matthew 13:44-46

God's way is the best way. Hands down.

"Businesses contribute to the common good by producing 'goods' that are truly good and 'services' that truly serve."

- Quote from Vocation of the Business Leader

As followers of Christ first, and investors second (at least in this example), it is prudent and necessary to give thought to the businesses we own in our retirement plans and investment portfolios through the lens of the call of Christ our Lord to "love your neighbor".

All investments have impact on the world around us, either positive or negative.

Food for thought.

If this idea is meaningful to you and would like to talk through your own faith-driven investing journey, I am here for you!

God bless and Happy Tuesday!

"Work is as much a basic human need as food, beauty, rest, friendship, prayer, and sexuality; it is not simply medicine but food for our soul."

"Loss of work is deeply disturbing because we were designed for it."

- Two quotes from Tim Keller's book "Every Good Endeavor."

I have seen this play out as I've walked with families through retirement in the ways that we've been conditioned to think about it in the West.

I think we as a culture get it mostly wrong, and the things we think we want out of retirement are not actually what we are built for.

Maybe the work itself changes, the pace changes, the paycheck changes, but the need to work, build, and pour into is ingrained in our very DNA, as image-bearers of God. This is not something we age-out of.

I hope this blesses somebody today!

Happy Monday!

One of my favorite quotes from Robin John’s new book, "The Good Investor” -

“We should make good tables. And write good books. And sell good insurance. And construct good bridges. And research good cures. And write good public policy. And create good technology. And teach our children virtue and joy. And take good photographs. And write good code. And serve good, nourishing meals. And invest in businesses that themselves do good. We should do it all of it in God’s name. Good. Good. Good.”

-

It reminds one of my favorite passages of scripture from Exodus 35: “The Lord has filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft.”

Just because your vocation doesn’t require a degree from seminary doesn’t mean it’s not valuable to God and His Kingdom. The way we work is worship to the Lord and shouldn’t be overlooked!

More Scripture:

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”
‭‭- Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬ ‭

“So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.”
- ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

God bless and happy Wednesday!

“I am the richest man in America.

I have a wife who loves me in spite of all my faults.

I have four dogs. Two love only me. One loves everybody. One loves no one but it’s still very loyal. I have a horse I love to ride around the farm, and best of all she comes to me when I call her.

I have too much to eat and a dry place to sleep. I enjoy my business. I love my farm in my home.

I have a few close friends, and money has never been my God.”

- Ted Jones, longtime Managing Partner and son of Edward Jones

This quote hangs in my office and I love it because it reminds me of the importance of three real financial superpowers - contentment, humility, and gratitude.

All three of these virtues pave the way to see real beauty in small, mundane, seemingly easy-to-overlook things, and are the anti-dote to the poison of comparison.

When we are free from the need of finding validation in the material, we can make financial decisions with wisdom and in service of things that really matter.

I would agree, Ted was a rich man!
