🥫 THE BATTLE OF THE CANS IS ON! 🥫
The Manning Rotary Club has officially challenged the Clarendon County Junior Chamber to see which club can collect the most food for our local food pantries — and bragging rights are absolutely on the line.
We’d love to tell you that we don’t care who wins because, either way, our community wins.
And that is true.
BUT… ever since our editor — who just happens to be the Rotary president — beat the JCs at Taste of Clarendon, we hear they’ve been a little bitter. 😂 Apparently, they’re looking for redemption.
So, will the Junior Chamber finally get it? Or will Rotary enjoy a nice victory dinner while reminding them about both losses? 👀
The losing club hosts the winners for dinner, so help your team and help our community at the same time!
We’re collecting through Sept. 9, and despite the name, Battle of the Cans is about much more than canned goods. We’re accepting all shelf-stable food items, including:
🥫 Canned vegetables, fruit, beans, soups and meats
🥣 Cereal and oatmeal
🍝 Pasta and pasta sauce
🍚 Rice
🥜 Peanut butter
🧀 Boxed macaroni and cheese
🥞 Pancake mix and syrup
🌮 Taco kits and seasonings
🍪 Crackers, granola bars and other packaged snacks
🍎 Applesauce and fruit cups
🥔 Instant potatoes and boxed side dishes
🧂 Condiments, sauces and seasonings
☕ Coffee, tea and drink mixes
🥛 Shelf-stable milk
…and any other nonperishable pantry staples!
📍 DROP-OFF LOCATIONS:
The Manning Times — 230 E. Boyce St., Manning
Clarendon County Chamber of Commerce — 19 N. Brooks St., Manning
You can also give your donations to any Rotary or Junior Chamber member for pickup.
Don’t feel like shopping? Both clubs are accepting monetary donations, too, and we’ll gladly do the shopping for you!
All donations will benefit United Ministries, The Salvation Army, Well Watered Ministries and Vision by Design.
So pick your team, fill a bag (or a buggy 👀) and help us turn a little friendly competition into a BIG win for Clarendon County!
