Because we love our schools, SECNY FCU is having its own Spirit Week to celebrate the last week of the school year. Today is College Spirit Day--and our North Syracuse Branch is representing University at Albany, with two alumni and a parent (and both alum graduated with sociology majors--different jobs but the same SUNY pride)! It's always a happy/sad time of year when we close our student branches for the summer. We are so proud of all of the students who worked in our branches at Onondaga CSD, Jordan-Elbridge, Solvay, and LaFayette--and especially the Class of 2026! You did amazing work and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store. We watched a youth group perform a dance they learned in Y programming--a wonderful reminder of why we do what we do, and why we have been doing it for 55 years--and counting. There are so many different jobs that exist in the credit union space, and we had a great time talking to kids at Dr. Weeks Elementary School in the The Syracuse City School District about which might be best for them. We love supporting community, like our neighbors at Onondaga Community College and our friends at Hillside! We recently worked on the Bridge 2 Manufacturing Program, helping participants open accounts and learn about budgeting. This program gives selected graduating Syracuse City School District students the chance to earn real money while exploring higher level math, life skills (like financial literacy!), and the various manufacturing and engineering careers that are expected to grow in upstate NY; they are then accepted into OCC with various additional support through their schooling. We were able to support on-site account openings along with beginning financial literacy--and had a great time!
