SECNY FCU recently partnered with the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York’s Small Business Recovery Grant (SBGR) Program to support local small businesses and nonprofit organizations facing economic challenges. The program helps provide relief for businesses impacted by inflation, supply-chain constraints, and rising energy costs, with funds available for reasonable and necessary expenses. We’re proud to be part of a program that strengthens our local business community and provides meaningful support when it’s needed most. SECNY FCU was honored to provide financial literacy to the amazing participants of Bridge2Manufacturing, an exciting project connecting select Syracuse City School District graduates with the jobs of the future--with programming and support from Onondaga Community College, Hillside Family of Agencies, and CenterState CEO. The participants learned advanced math skills, time management, engineering, and practical life skills--like managing your finances. So, it seemed perfect to wrap up the final event at SECNY FCU! As your local credit union, SECNY FCU is proud to be able to not just deliver programming, but to connect to our community, with Human Interaction, Human Innovation, and Human Intelligence--so come and say, "Hi!" and learn what it's like to bank where you're not just a number, but a member.

Stories are meant to be shared, and we loved hearing veterans tell the stories of their time in service while volunteering for Clear Path for Veterans. Did you know you could do the same? Consider taking a few hours a month to serve lunch, listen to stories, and connect with local veterans--follow Clear Path for Veterans to learn more. We💙Education and spent so much of the summer delivering financial literacy throughout the areas we serve, including a whole tour of libraries! From Mexico Public Library to Cazenovia Public Library to Maxwell Memorial Library and a number of the ones in-between, we shared stories, played games, and learned how to save, count money, and set goals (with help from Joe & friends from The Money Mammals). This summer, we worked to provide fun, age-appropriate financial education to the students in the Town of DeWitt Parks and Recreation's Summer Program. We played games, read stories, and thought about who we might be in 20 years--and how to save for that person! If you want to learn about money the fun way, join us at Mexico Library's Play to Learn Event, happening Wednesday, August 18th, from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This event is free, open to the public, and designed for kiddos entering grades K-4.
