I've been speaking with some family and friends over the last month or two and a common theme I've heard is that they're starting to move money out of the market and into "cash" waiting out the current volatility. I will not give investment advice on whether you should stay in or get out of the market, BUT if you are parking some money for a couple years, one thought might be instead of putting into cash, why not a Multi Year Guaranteed Annuity (MYGA)? You can get a much higher guaranteed rate of return compared to a money market or CD and the rate is guaranteed for the entire duration.

Being off the road for the last two years due to the pandemic, I realized a few things. I liked waking up in my own bed instead of some hotel and thinking for a few seconds, hmmm, what city am I in, again? I loved seeing my wife and kids in the morning for breakfast and having dinner with them at night. I liked not getting those notifications of flight delays or cancellations and having to scramble to see how the heck I'm going to get to my next meeting or home to my family. I loved being able to take my kids to karate or baseball or whatever they happen to be into. I loved that I was home and my wife was able to go back to school and complete her Radiography Program... something she's dreamed about for years. While covering 38 states and traveling sounds fun...new places, people, sights, food, bourbon and golf, being home far outweighed that.
Several other factors played into this decision, but with the thought of getting back on the road while also turning 50 (and not getting any younger,) I came to the conclusion that after 15 years in the corporate world, it was time for a change. Soooo, I left the "cushy" home office job, moved to independent distribution and did TWO things...
First, I've joined Gen3 Advisor Group as their Sr VP of Sales and Business Development.
Mac, Jordann, Michael, JT and the rest of the Chrystal/Rossi clan and I have become more like family over the last couple years. While it was hard leaving a job that you've been at almost 1/3 of your life, Mac et al were definitely the people to do it with. Not only are they an amazing family and fun group of people, Gen3's potential on growth and expansion is unreal. When the opportunity came up, it truly was a no brainer for me.
SECOND, now that I'm in independent distribution and working with Mac, it now also allows me to personally help families with creating a legacy, protect their portfolios and the unexpected, provide a place for safe money, help create tax free income at retirement and so much more. Thus the birth of Rock Ledge Financial. I created Rock Ledge as a place I can personally write life insurance, annuities, long term care and disability insurance through while create a brand here in Connecticut (and beyond)
