Bison are majestic, powerful and play a vital role in our American heritage—but they aren't your average cattle.

“They can throw a 200-pound person around like a rag doll,” said Nick George, owner of Coyote Run Ranch in Columbiana County, Ohio. He notes that underestimating their power and temperament is the biggest mistake a new owner can make.

On Sept. 11 and 12, Nick and his wife Kristin are hosting the Eastern Bison Association regional conference to help educate both current and future producers on how to raise bison safely and responsibly.

With water issues affecting many areas, it’s important to understand that flood insurance and water backup coverage are NOT the same thing. 💦

🌊 Flood Insurance- Damage from natural flooding outside of your home — like heavy rain, overflowing rivers, storm surge. This is NOT included in standard homeowners insurance; bought separately, often through the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) or private insurers.

🚽 Water Backup Coverage- Water damage caused by backups or overflows from sewers, drains or sump pumps inside your home. This coverage is an add-on (endorsement) to your homeowners or renters policy.
