Happy Heavenly Mother’s Day to my best friend. I see you in everything I do.

LOSING MOM

Your pain-free the cancer won,
and I’m still your son,
You carried me when we were one,
9 months in your womb then it begun,
Our lives in darkness after the setting sun,

Divorce altered our course when you taught me the most,
Living in a new town far from the coast,
Our lives got shattered as we moved many times,
You encouraged me to write and work on my rhymes.

You’re still my Mom as our relationship continues to grow,
You taught me to trust in God when I’m sad and low,
You’re now part of mother earth, the sun, the moon and the stars,
Leaving behind this family of ours,
so many scars.

3 sons and a daughter,
Whose tongues continue to slaughter.
They need to know that you didn’t die,
your especially close when I cry,
That somehow you didn’t leave at all
and keep guiding me to make sure I get up when I fall.
