Getting your offer accepted is exciting, but the mortgage process isn’t over yet. Once you’re under contract, here are a few things you can expect from underwriting:

✅ Updated pay stubs and bank statements may be requested

✅ Large deposits may need to be documented

✅ Employment will be verified, sometimes more than once

✅ Avoid opening new credit accounts or making large purchases

✅ Underwriters may ask for letters of explanation regarding credit, employment, or bank activity

✅ The appraisal will be ordered and reviewed

✅ Title work and homeowner’s insurance will be finalized

✅ Conditions are normal! Most loans receive additional requests before final approval
