It is so important to be a safe space for your child. Often children and teen victims feel too ashamed to let someone know when they’ve been tricked or taken advantage of. This shame can be a very heavy mental burden to bear. While difficult, please be sure you are having these conversations. Make sure your child knows they can safely come to you even if something may have already happened.

If a minor you know has been a victim of online blackmail and financial exploitation, The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has a website that helps to scan the internet and remove any known incriminating photos. Visit: takeitdown.ncmec.org for details and how to take action.

Phishing websites aim to make you feel like you need to act quickly to capture a deal, but what they really aim to capture is your private data and banking information.
