I was grateful to volunteer today for the Guarding Against Cancer event at the Kohl Center. With the help of some colleagues, we set the table for the main event tonight to raise funds for cancer research.

A highlight of my day was my lengthy conversation with Bob Lesniewski, who is currently fighting his own battle. Bob and his wife, Janet, have started a golf event in Eau Claire that has raised over $350,000 for the UW Carbone Cancer Center.

Bob shared his life motto with me: to complete one act of kindness every day, and to pay it forward whenever possible. Simple, but effective. This mindset can not only enrich our own lives, but can also change the course of someone else’s day when they may need it most.

Let’s all strive to be more like Bob.
