Federal Student Aid announced that they are completing maintenance to the StudentAid.gov site on Saturday, July 25 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Eastern). The outage will impact the automated transfer of tax return information on StudentAid.gov.

The Department of Education announced on Wednesday that they will begin a "phased rollout" of the 2025-2026 FAFSA. On October 1, the form will be limited to a set of students and institutions for testing. The 2024-2025 FAFSA form should be available to ALL students on or by December 1.

The U.S. Department of Education (ED), in an electronic announcement posted on Monday, provided updated benchmarks for the 2024-25 rollout, including timeframes for when:

🗓️ Students will be able to make corrections
🗓️ When forms containing previously reported errors can be reprocessed
🗓️ How many applications have been submitted and processed to date, a resource that will be updated twice weekly

Discover announced that on February 1, 2024 they will stop accepting new applications for student loans. Applications submitted on or before January 31, 2024, will continue to be processed.

There will be no impact to current Discover Student Loans customers or their loans or payments at this time.
