Gardner Insurance Agency is an independent insurance company that specializes in auto insurance, homeowners insurance, life insurance and business insurance. Gardner Insurance was established in Madison, Indiana in 1979 by Bob Gardner (the "Smile-Maker") and his wife Carolyn. Their eldest daughter , Robin Goodnight, joined them in 1980 and still runs the agency today as the principle agent. Her son, Greg Goodnight, recently started working at Gardner, representing the third generation in the family business. As our clients, friends and family know, Gardner Insurance takes pride in our business. We continue to retain our core values and principles as we move forward in the 21st Century of insurance. We have served the Madison community and surrounding areas since the inception of Gardner Insurance, and we continue to pride ourselves on quality service, client loyalty and helping make the best choices for you, our customers.

GIA Staff had the pleasure of presenting a check to The Madison Salvation Army today alongside our 2026 Smile-maker, Bob Canida.

We thank Bob for thoughtfully selecting his beneficiary, and the staff and volunteers at The Madison Salvation Army for their hard work and time spent helping so many in our community.

Thank you to all who donated to and shopped at our event to help raise funds for this organization. We look forward to seeing you all at our event next year!

Today also marks a very important day for Gardner Insurance Agency, as a business.

Today we celebrate serving our community for 47 years - and we look forward to many more!

We are proud to carry on the legacy of Bob and Carolyn Gardner, who opened the doors to GIA on October 1, 1979. Bob and Carolyn's daughter Robin and grandson Greg represent the 2nd and 3rd generations of this family-owned business.

In 2025, We honored Smile-maker McKinnon McIntosh - known to many of us in downtown Madison as our local, friendly, USPS mail carrier!

McKinnon always has a smile, a friendly greeting and goes above and beyond to take care of his customers and serve the Madison community through his position as a mail carrier. He is a true Smile-maker and we were grateful to have the opportunity to recognize him with this award!

McKinnon chose The Madison Salvation Army as his non-profit beneficiary last year, sharing, "I chose the Salvation Army because of all they do for those in need. Between the soup kitchen, the shelter, the worship services and everything else they do, I feel like they do a great service to those that need it."
