Shelter is scheduled to open Thursday 10am.
Please take this storm seriously it will be at min the effects of Idalia so head all the warnings from officials.

Please keep in mind that surrounding counties have issued mandatory evacuation therefore our shelters may have an influx of additional people seeking shelter. Plan to get there early to assure a place to stay.

🚨The Madison County Central School will open as a shelter on Thursday 9/26/24 at 10:00 AM. The address is 2093 US 90 W Madison, FL 32340. Please bring any comfort items you require including air mattresses or cots. MRE's will be served for the first 48-72 hours.

Due to expected Hurricane force winds, Madison County has a VOLUNTARY evacuation in place for mobile homes, sub-standard housing and flood prone areas. Voluntary evacuations are simply a recommendation of safety and is highly suggested.

County Offices will be closed Thursday and Friday

Madison County Schools will close Thursday and Friday

The most likely time of arrival for tropical storm force winds to arrive in Madison County is around 5PM Thursday.

Madison County has been placed under a Hurricane Watch. This storm is expected to make landfall as a Major Hurricane. It is expected to rapidly intensify as it develops and makes its way north. Impacts will be felt well away from the center. You should be making preparations for yourselves and homes today. Stock your supply kits for 7 days, finalize your evacuation or sheltering plans, clear your yard of anything that could be tossed by winds and make plans for pets. Continue to monitor media outlets for storm updates and changes.
