This is NOT a scam if you’re an original government Medicare a and B you’re paying for your own Medicare part be premium and you’re not paying Medicare Irma you will get this $90 one time payment direct deposited to your account on October 8 if you’re set up with direct deposit already through Social Security.

If not, you’ll get a paper check from the US treasury later in the month of October.

ANOC!!!!!!!! If you are on a Medicare Advantage or Medicare Part D plan every September, you get a little booklet that is called the Annual Notice of Change. That booklet compares your current benefits with the upcoming years benefits. With all the changes that happen each year you need to be aware of how your coverage might change. There are at least 3 carriers that have plans that are pulling out of Jefferson County this year. If you are on one of those plans you will receive a letter stating, you need to find other coverage. PLEASE read the letters that your insurance company sends you. I know you get tons of junk mail and it gets frustrating going through all that. We just don't want you to miss out. Around 100,000 people nationwide lost their Part D coverage last year because of changes. Don't let that be you this year.

This past weekend Heaven gained another Kasper Insurance family member. Sherry Straub was an employee of Kasper Insurance for 38 years. She was more than just an employee she was family. Sherry was full of grace and mercy and stood fast in her walk with Christ. She treated each client with respect and always went the extra mile in servicing their policy. Her hardest job was keeping me and my dad in line. Dad was always the difficult one though. 😜
On a personal note, Sherry and her husband Dennis have been spiritual mentors for a very long time. They understood the virtue of serving others. Back in the day when we weren't so busy Sherry and I would have great conversation about the Lord. I cherish those talks mainly because of the passion and conviction Sherry always showed. When it came to work my dad would set shoe boxes in front of me full of claims. He said you are going to learn how to service before you sell. I just remember yelling HELP! and there was Sherry to walk me through. She taught me to be like a duck and let the water or hard times roll off of my back. In many ways she was like a second mom, always looking out for me and making sure I didn't lose my way in life and at work. I have always said I am spoiled, privileged, and blessed to have had so many incredible people in my life. Sherry is certainly one of those people.

I do think it is important to note that Sherry had another side to her. It was the practical joke side. She would come into my office and steal all of my pens. Of course, I did nothing to deserve this kind of treatment!!!!!! Just because I would accidently steal one of hers on a regular basis doesn't mean she can just take all of mine at one time. She would hide my lunch and my favorite was when she moved the office clock ahead 1 hour to make me think I was late for an appointment.

Sherry was a beautiful person and will truly be missed. May God touch the family in this difficult time with all the love and peace that He can give.

Sherry was born on June 25th, 1947 and passed away on September 11th, 2026 at the age of 79
