Position Summary
The Sanford Company is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Accounting Professional with experience in multi-entity environment accounting. This role will support financial operations across several lines of business, including insurance agencies, employee benefits, retail operations, and related entities. The ideal candidate brings a strong accounting foundation, industry-specific knowledge, and the ability to manage complex financial data with accuracy and discretion.
Key Responsibilities
• Perform day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes.
• Process vendor invoices, client payments, accurate expense allocation and ensure timely posting to the general ledger.
• Maintain accurate financial records and documentation (filing and archiving)
• Support accounting for P&C Insurance operations, Employee Benefits operations, including commissions, overrides, and vendor reconciliations.
• Support/ Assist audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
Qualifications & Experience
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within the insurance industry or a multi-entity environment.
• Experience with accounting systems, agency management systems, and financial reporting tools such as but not limited to QuickBooks. Experience in AMS360 a plus.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong attention to detail.
• Experience with payroll and commission processing.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
