Community Credit Union (CCU) was founded in 1955 by a group of visionary leaders who cared about local working people, families and small businesses. Since then, we have been helping our diverse member base meet their financial challenges and opportunities. As a credit union, we're not- for- profit cooperative financial institution. That means we exist for the benefit of the people we serve. You'll notice that we call them "members" instead of customers. That's because they are more than just numbers to us. They're our fellow human beings and co-owners of this credit union. CCU is proud to serve the people of Lynn, Peabody, Somerville and beyond with banking that is Vibrant, personal and Fair. The prerequisite for CCU membership is to live, work or worship in Essex County or in 25 mile radius from Lynn, Massachusetts. To join CCU, an individual or business must maintain a savings account with a $25.00 balance!

Welcoming Our Incoming Chairwoman: Laurene Wessel 🌟

We’re excited to recognize Laurene Wessel of Community Credit Union as the incoming Chairwoman of the Peabody Area Chamber of Commerce—and we couldn’t be more proud to have her leading us into 2027.

Laurene steps into this role at an exciting time, not only for our Chamber, but for Community Credit Union.

Following the recent merger with Rockland Federal Credit Union, Community Credit Union will rebrand as Arise Financial in 2027—creating what is expected to be the largest credit union in Massachusetts.

That’s a pretty exciting chapter to begin a year of Chamber leadership! 🎉

And we’re thrilled that Community Credit Union is also the Presenting Sponsor of our 2026 Annual Dinner, helping us celebrate the businesses, leaders, members, and community partners who make the Peabody Area such a great place to do business.

Community Credit Union, a division of Arise Financial, was pleased to attend the North Shore Latino Business Association, Inc. ‘s 15th annual Gala Dinner! Our own Dr. Nick Sarantopolous, received the “NSLBA President’s Award.”
Nick is the Market President of Community Credit Union, a Division of Arise Financial. He is a senior banking executive with more than 30 years in commercial banking, investment banking, credit union leadership, and management consulting in London, Chicago, New York, and Boston's North Shore. Nick served for more than two decades as President and CEO of Community Credit Union and has built and led high-performing organizations while helping local businesses, families, and communities thrive.
