The Lynden Chamber of Commerce really did say it best...
WHILE EVERYDAY is a great day in Lynden, today we have a tad bit of that mixture of sad and glad as our long-time agent on the ground from Brown & Brown Lynden—which we still by habit refer to as “SSK” because once a business gets a nickname in Lynden, it tends to stick—Bobbi Green is celebrating the beginning of her retirement today.
We’re really excited for Bobbi as she looks forward to long trips, sleeping late, and not hearing our voice on the other end of the phone saying, “Bobbi? So we have a little issue you may want to know about…,” but really sad we won’t be hearing “How can I help you today and is there something I can do to make your day better?” followed by us shouting to anyone within earshot while pointing to the phone, “THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN BY CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!”
For three-plus decades Bobbi has been a steady, calming voice and guiding hand for many Lynden-ites, Sumas-ians, Bellinghamsters, Eversonians, and residents all over Whatcom County and the State of Washington in times of stress and uncertainty, walking side by side with her clients as they navigate a world that often seems strange and unfamiliar, using a vocabulary that is foreign to most folks’ ears.

Usually, as our eyes bug out of our heads and glaze over with our mouths slightly open and eyebrows raised, Bobbi would calmly look into our troubled soul, smile gently, and in a comforting voice say something along the lines of what we heard as “Calm yourself, child. This doesn’t apply to you and your circumstances, so there’s no need to worry or fret, it'll be fine. I can explain” and our blood pressure would drop, breathing would return to normal, and we knew everything would be okay because Bobbi was on the job—our personal angel leading us through the Valley of the Shadow of Insurance.
Plus she’s responsible for unknown tons of turkey being given to those in need at Thanksgiving time with the Brown & Brown Lynden Turkey Drive, another angelic task to help others at a time they can really use that hand that’s being held out to them and being treated as a person who matters. That’s the magic of Bobbi.
Anyway, we’ll miss you, Bobbi. Our prayer is that you enjoy every minute of your well-deserved retirement, and on behalf of your many clients whom you served so well, we thank you for making our lives better by giving of your time and talents, and being an angel sent to help for so many. YOU, Bobbi Green, are loved!
And as we didn’t ask if we could use her photo, and having sworn to Bobbi never to use an unauthorized photo again (yep, that was a “settlement” on a Peace Arch Monument photo we shan’t forget), we used a fully authorized-for-use snow angel photo instead. See, Bobbi, we can learn—thanks to you!
