Senior Cole Spence writes:

My name is Cole Spence and I am graduating this May with a degree in Business Administration: Financial Planning. After graduation, I hope to obtain an opportunity to be surrounded by people who I can learn and gain valuable experience from in the Financial Services Industry. It is my goal to obtain the CFP designation and one day operate as a Financial Planner. I enjoyed the SAM Fund particularly because I have been surrounded by people who I can learn so much from. Studying and evaluating the market with my peers has been a very valuable experience that I gained from being in the fund. I hope to take what I've learned and utilize it to the best of my ability wherever I may end up.

Stephen Jacobson, one of the hardest working and most dedicated members of the SAM Fund writes:

Dear SAM Fund,
I have had such an incredible time for the past 2 1/2 years where I have worked in numerous sectors including: Materials, Financials, and Consumer Goods. It has been an incredible experience working as both a analyst and as a manager. I will always be grateful for the lessons I have learned through SAM whether that garnering a mindset to invest or how to work within a team setting. I will always be grateful for the people that I have met through SAM as I am sure many will be life-long friends. Upon, graduation I will be working for the Mason Companies who is a financial planning firm in Washington D.C. While there I will be working as an internal accountant and will be pursuing my CPA. Thank you to everyone in SAM Fund for the valuable lessons you have taught me.
Sincerely,

Stephen Jacobson

Wesley Mah, a veteran member of the SAM fund writes:

"Dear SAM Fund friends and family,

It has been a pleasure working with you guys these past few years. I've seen great change come along and as my last semester at Liberty I would like to wish you all the best of luck. As a financial planning major with a minor in accounting my plans after graduation would be to applying towards a wealth management analyst positions in NY/NJ area. What I enjoyed most during my time in the fund would be the like minded individuals who are curious to learn about the markets. Overall, this fund has provided a great experience and enjoyed working with everyone. I would like to encourage everyone to never lose sight of what's important and that is God.

In Christ,
Wesley"

Our next post goes to Anh Cao, a crucial member in the consumer goods sector!

"Being a Finance and Economics major provided me opportunities not only to widen my horizons about the economies, financial markets, financial structures, money flows, etc. but also to keep up with my passion about financial operations, business analysis and technology integration. In addition, getting involved in SAM Fund for almost 2 years equipped me with analytical skills, problem solving skills and knowledge about the US stock market. With my goal of working in the Analytics field, I intend to pursue a master’s degree in Business Intelligence and Analytics a couple years after my bachelor’s"

We will start our SAM Fund Senior appreciation posts off with Janelle Postma! The Sector manager for Consumer Goods!

"I am graduating with a degree in finance. I plan on staying in Lynchburg for the summer working at my current job as a supervisor at Liberty’s bookstore, and later move to either Charlotte, NC or Atlanta, GA. I’ve been a part of Student Asset Management Fund since my junior year. SAM fund gave me a hands-on approach at investing on top of what I was learning in my classes. As a manager, I had the privilege of learning with a fantastic management team as well as learning from professors who oversee the fund. SAM fund provided me the opportunity to learn real-world investing concepts and skills outside of the classroom"
