Election Hammers the Market!

Understanding what is happening with the markets getting hit so hard today after the election results is something many of you may be looking for answers on.

With Trump being elected and the Senate going Republican and the markets are pricing in the House going Republican if that does actually happen. This means a HUGE shift in fiscal policy.

This is not the markets dislike Trump or upset that Harris did not win. This comes down to if Harris would have won then the status quo would not have changed. This means the markets would not likely have reacted as much because the markets would know what to expect.

With Trump winning the election he ran on change and he ran on big changes especially as it pertains to fiscal policy and items that will impact the bond markets.

This initial reaction is what they call the knee jerk reaction. It is impulsive, unthinking, unpredictable response based on preconceived notions. Kind of explains perfectly what happens when big headline news reports come out.

The markets will settle down once more information is received that they can put in to place in their economic expectations.
