107th birthday!!!
Yesterday at Keith Wolfe State Farm we celebrated our special client Mrs. Jessie Bos’s 107th birthday!
When her daughter Joanne told us she was going to bring her by our office we knew we had to make this milestone special for her! We surprised Mrs. Bos with cake and balloons while she shared stories of her remarkable life and the impacts she has made on the world. Jessie grew up in a little town called Cost, Tx on a family farm just outside of San Antonio and for majority of her adult life she has lived and worked in southeast Texas at Lamar University as a lunch lady for a few years and she also worked as a lunch lady for Lumberton ISD for 30 years. Throughout her time as a lunch lady Mrs. Bos impacted children of all ages with a servants heart and motherly wisdom. Mrs. Bos saw many children from broken homes, some who didn’t have steady access to food, and some just not finding the time to eat in the morning, therefore she felt called to teach them the importance of nutrition and warm food in their bellies! Eventually, Mrs. Jessie became so passionate about making sure that every child in U.S. schools had access to free meals during the day that she started campaigning for the enactment of school breakfast programs. Her passion and determination to make a difference in these children’s lives brought her all the way to Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. and she spent four days meeting with senators and lawmakers, to try and convince them to enact federal school breakfast programs all over the U.S. After all of her hard work and determination, Mrs. Bos made it happen and is who we have to thank for the Child Nutrition Act of 1966! We had a great time celebrating Mrs. Jessie and loved hearing all about her love for baseball and her passion for children’s nutritional needs! We wish you the happiest of birthdays Mrs. Jessie and we hope to celebrate you again next year! Here at Keith Wolfe State Farm we are honored to have served you throughout the years and look forward to many more to come!
