In Memoriam: Deputy Derrick Locklear

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of Robeson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Derrick Locklear.

Deputy Locklear began his dedicated service with the Sheriff’s Office in February 2024. Prior to joining our agency, he served honorably for nearly 25 years as a Police Officer and retired as a Lieutenant with the UNC Pembroke Police Department. His lifelong commitment to law enforcement and to the people of Robeson County will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.

“Today, we mourn the loss of a dedicated public servant of our community,” stated Sheriff Burnis Wilkins. “His decades of service and commitment will never be forgotten. Deputy Locklear will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.”

April Love Holmes has been located and is safe.

Missing & Endangered Person

The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office Special Victims Detectives are requesting the public's assistance in locating April Love Holmes. She was reported missing on July 24, 2025.

She is described as:
• Black Female
• 41 Years Old
• 150 pounds
• 5’ 1” tall
• Brown Eyes
• Black Hair
• Last seen wearing a black tank top shirt, black shorts with white dots, and dark colored tennis shoes
• Distinct Characteristics: Left arm crippled, walks with a limp. She also has a TBI, child-like behavior and demeanor, and needs to be located immediately.

She was last seen in the area of White Ash Drive, Fayetteville NC, on July 22, 2025.
