Credit union or bank — same thing? Not quite.

Both can offer the everyday financial tools you need, but the way they’re structured is different.

Credit unions are member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperatives. That means there are no outside shareholders, and earnings can be used to support member benefits, services, rates, and the credit union itself.

Depending on the institution and product, that structure can mean competitive rates, lower fees, and a more personal approach to service.

Meet Carla Kelley, President of Aspire Credit Union.

After more than 30 years in the credit union industry, what Carla loves most is the relationships she has built along the way.

From celebrating life’s biggest milestones to walking alongside members through difficult moments, Carla has had the privilege of serving multiple generations of families — sharing laughter, tears, prayers, and everything in between.

For Carla, supporting members is about so much more than financial services. It’s about being a trusted friend, resource, and advocate. Whether someone needs guidance, encouragement, or simply someone to listen, she is grateful for the opportunity to be there.

Those relationships are what make this work so meaningful — and why serving Aspire members continues to be such a privilege.

A quick heads-up as you plan your week: our lobby will be closed Monday for Columbus Day, and we’ll be celebrating International Credit Union Day on Thursday.

Our regular lobby hours are
Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
and your accounts are still available 24/7 online and in the Aspire app.

Fall looks pretty good from our corner of Pershing and S. Bynum.

One of the things we love about being part of East Texas is getting to see the seasons change right outside our branch. The trees, the cooler mornings, and that unmistakable Piney Woods feel make this time of year hard to beat.

If you’re passing by Aspire this fall, take the scenic route and enjoy the view.
