I'm seeing a lot of people who have a HIGH wind/hail deductible and don't realize what it actually means until they have a claim.

If your wind/hail deductible is 1% and your home is insured for $500,000, you'll be responsible for the first $5,000 of any covered wind or hail claim.

A 2% deductible means $10,000 out of your pocket.

A 3% deductible means $15,000 out of your pocket.

Most people don't know what their deductible is until a storm has already damaged their home. That's why it's important to review your policy every year.

Fortunately, we still have access to companies that offer 1% wind/hail deductibles, although those options are becoming harder to find.
