3:45 p.m. UPDATE: The City of Lubbock identified an operational issue at one of its large pump stations that impacted water inflow to that facility. This has been repaired, so citizens and businesses, not on a private well, can resume normal outdoor irrigation usage.

As a precaution, the City asked citizens and businesses to suspend outdoor irrigation on Thursday to ensure the water system stayed at a constant pressure to prevent a boil water notice.

For those not on a private well, the City asks that you adhere to the irrigation schedule found at mylubbock.us/irrigation.

Licensed irrigators in Texas must undergo extensive training, pass exams, and complete continuing education to maintain their license. They are knowledgeable about proper design, installation, and maintenance of irrigation systems to ensure water conservation, prevent contamination of the public water supply, and comply with all relevant regulations.

A rain and freeze sensor, which can usually be installed in just an hour, will shut your sprinkler system off any time it senses a significant amount of rain or if the temperature drops below a certain point in an effort to save water when it would be wasted.
