🚜🌾 FARM SAFETY: SHARE THE ROAD 🌾🚜

Harvest season means more farm equipment on our roads. If you're behind the wheel, remember that getting where you're going safely is more important than getting there quickly.

Here are a few reminders when sharing the road with farm equipment:

🟠 WATCH FOR THE SMV SIGN
That orange and red triangle means you're approaching a slow-moving vehicle. Tractors and farm equipment may only be traveling 15–25 MPH.

↔️ GIVE THEM SPACE
Keep a safe following distance and avoid tailgating. Farm equipment can stop, slow down, or maneuver differently than a passenger vehicle.

↩️ BE CAREFUL WHEN PASSING
Farm equipment may need to swing wide before making a turn. Don't assume the operator is pulling over just because they move toward the right side of the road.

🚫 DON'T PASS IN UNSAFE AREAS
Never pass where visibility is limited, such as near hills, curves, solid lines or narrow bridges.

⏳ BE PATIENT
That tractor or combine may be slowing you down for a few minutes but they're working hard to get the harvest done.

❤️ A little patience can go a long way in keeping our Iowa roads safe this harvest season.
